Mac Miller's First Posthumous Song Drops This Week With Free Nationals

Mac Miller's first posthumous song, a collaboration called "Time" with Anderson .Paak's live band Free Nationals and Kali Uchis, will drop on Wednesday (June 12).

Earlier today, Anderson revealed the news via Twitter alongside the single artwork for the release. It's a fitting move since Paak and Miller previously collaborated on "Dang," off Miller's The Divine Feminine. Additionally, Free Nationals served as the backing band for the late rapper's tribute concert in October 2018. "Time" serves as his first official posthumous release after cuts "Benji the Dog" and "Real" leaked onto the blogosphere.

News of the posthumous release arrived just days after a documentary centered around the rapper was put on hold, courtesy of the late star's estate. "We tweeted our intentions to begin developing a doc on Mac over the next year. At the same time, we reached out to all those closest to him to begin the process of making it official. We heard back from @christianclancy & The Estate who said the family has requested we hold off on the project at this time," filmmaker CJ Wallis wrote via Twitter. Word of Miller's untimely death filled the blogosphere in September 2018 after TMZ reported that the rapper passed away from an overdose. He was only 26-years-old. Law enforcement sources told TMZ that Mac was found around noon at his San Fernando Valley home and pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities were reportedly alerted by a male friend who called 911 from the star's residence.
