NFL Player Cody Latimer Arrested After Shooting In Colorado Apartment

Washington Redskins wide receiver Cody Latimer was taken into custody after police responded to a call that shots had been fired inside of his apartment in unincorporated Douglas County, Colorado.

When officers arrived at Latimer's apartment, they found one person had sustained injuries that were not related to the gunfire. Latimer was arrested and is facing charges of assault in the second degree, illegal discharge of a firearm, prohibited use of a weapon and reckless endangerment.

Authorities did not provide details about what happened.

Latimer's lawyer issued a statement asking people to wait for all the details to be released before judging his client.

"There's an entire back story to this situation that constitutes one of the most highly provocative situations you can imagine," Latimer's attorney Harvey Steinberg said. "Please withhold judgment until all the facts of what took place that night are known."

The Redskins said they are aware of the incident.

"We are aware of the situation and have informed the NFL League Office," the Redskins said in a statement. "We will continue to gather more information and have no further comment at this time."
