Megan Thee Stallion wants Tory Lanez deposed over her defamation and cyberstalking lawsuit against blogger Milagro Gramz.
According to a report TMZ published on Monday, February 24, the "Hot Girl Summer" rapper's legal team filed a motion to approve a deposition from the jailed rapper as they continue their investigation into allegations Meg made against the Internet personality last year. She previously sued Gramz, born Elizabeth Cooper, for allegedly participating in a coordinated effort to spread lies about the Grammy award-winning artist after Lanez was convicted of shooting Meg in 2023. Judge Cecilia Altonaga signed off on the request, however, Lanez's team said the artist won't cooperate.
"Tory Lanez is not a party to Megan Thee Stallion's lawsuit against UTP client Milagro Cooper and therefore UTP is not obligated to produce Tory Lanez for a deposition," Unite The People CEO Caesar McDowell said in a statement. "Nor did UTP agree or disagree to a deposition of Mr. Lanez or any other potential witness."
Meg's team wants to question Lanez about his alleged partnership with Cooper. They previously claimed the "Say It" singer and his father Sonstar Peterson recruited Cooper and paid her to post misinformation about Meg after the shooting happened in 2020. When she requested a restraining order against Lanez in December, Meg's team presented alleged financial records that showed Lanez's dad paid Cooper up to $3,000 from 2020 to 2022. The Houston native also accused Lanez of engaging in "psychological warfare" from behind bars after he was sentenced to 10 years in prison. A judge approved the restraining order last month.
Lanez's team made it clear that the artist won't provide any kind of deposition to Meg's attorneys. In his statement, McDowell said, "good luck trying to get him to 'testify' to anything, it's just not what he does... and he definitely did not 'agree' to testify now."
