Harvest NYC Inc recalled 200g packages of Enoki Mushrooms on Wednesday (April 16) due to a possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination.
According to the United States Food & Drug Administration, the recalled Enoki Mushroom packages were distributed to retail stores across the U.S. including locations in Minnesota. Consumers should throw out Harvest NYC Enoki Mushrooms packaged in a green, plastic bag with UPC code 6975730520101 printed on the back of the label.
Per the FDA, Listeria "is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems."
Symptoms of a Listeria monocytogenes infection include "high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea." Being infected with this organism can also "cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women."
Officials recommended that consumers "destroy the products immediately or return them to the place of purchase for a full refund."
As of Friday (April 18) no illnesses were reported from consuming the affected Enoki Mushrooms.
