Afroman claimed victory after a jury ruled in his favor at a trial over a defamation lawsuit from the Adams County Sheriff's Office.

On Wednesday, March 18, a 10-person jury in Adams County, Ohio, decided that the veteran rapper did not defame the officers involved with the 2022 raid on his home in a series of music videos. Afroman, born Joseph Foreman, wore an American flag-inspired suit and sunglasses as the judge affirmed the jury's 14 verdicts in favor of the defendant. After the case was officially closed, Afroman took to the streets outside the courthouse and celebrated his legal win.

"WE DID IT AMERICA," Afroman wrote in his caption. "GOD BLESS AMERICA. LAND THAT I LOVE !!! FREEDOM OF SPEECH!!!!!!!!!!!"

Afroman was sued by the officers who were involved in the raid on his home. They accused him of using their likenesses in music videos he made about them without their permission. In his music videos, the "Because I Got High" rapper used his own surveillance footage of the failed raid and berated several deputies with vulgar insults.

During the three-day trial, the officers in question testified that the videos caused "tremendous pain" and impacted their personal lives. Afroman also took the stand in his patriotic fit. He argued that he only made the videos to raise funds to repair the damage caused by the Adams County Sheriff's Office during their raid.

“After they run around my house with guns and kick down my door,” he said during the trial, per CNN. “I got the right to kick a can in my backyard, use my freedom of speech, turn my bad times into a good time.”
